My son and daughter in law got the assistance downpayment to buy a home in Tucson last year. My son is paralyzed in a wheel chair, and has recently had some mental issues arising from some meds he takes for his nerve pain. They have 9 month old daughter, and they need help. As his parents, we would like to move him back to Iowa, so we can help with his needs, and also his infant. The problem is that his home value continues to drop due to the housing situation in Arizona. He needs a way out, without ending up in a terrible financial situation. Homes are not selling, and they are dropping in value. This is a nice home, and totally handicap ready. Is there an organization that helps with this kind of situation?

DPA programs assist working-class Americans who can afford monthly mortgage payments but need help with the initial downpayment on their homes. Since 1997, downpayment assistance has helped more than one million families realize the dream of homeownership. Unless we act now, Washington politics will end a vital program that is bringing the American dream into reach for tens of thousands of families each month.

There is a new website directing efforts to save DPA. Check out http://www.DPAgroundswell.org to see what you can do. DPA will be eliminated in 50 days -- act now!

[...] Shailesh Gimire of CTX Mortgage posted a good overview of the requirements to use the new funding and the overall program. I have a client who is working with them now to take advantage of this - if we can find a home quickly enough to buy before the funds run out again. [...]
