Gilbert, Arizona – Tentative agreement has been reached between Mr. Shailesh Ghimire, founder and owner of the widely read Arizona Mortgage Guru blog and Bank of America, for the sale of the blog for a reported $1.2 million valuation.

In announcing the agreement Mr. Ghimire states that “it’s a win win situation for both parties”. With over five years of blogging under his belt, Mr. Ghimire was on the forefront of covering the subprime crisis and other hot topics in the home financing business.

Bank of America has recently been in the news with its announcement to help homeowners by forgiving portions of their mortgage. Ms. Stacy Johnson, VP of Digital Marketing at the bank stated that the bank wants to work with consumers on helping them keep their homes.

“We need a solid Web 2.0 channel to start building stronger relationships with borrowers in distress. We felt that the Arizona Mortgage Guru blog, with is strong history and wide readership would be a perfect fit for bringing this message out.” Said Ms. Johnson.

Industry analysts could not be reached for comment. However, Bank of America shares moved up 0.17 to 18.02, a 0.95% jump, in early morning trading.

Mr. Ghimire will stay on during the transition but has not immediate plans thereafter. “I guess I’ll move on and start another blog I guess. But I’ll sure miss blogging here at AMG.”

Bling Night 2009 With Jenn and Joe Maggiore

We had a fun time yesterday evening at Bling Night. It was a social event organized by Joe and Jenn Maggiorie on one of Joe’s property listings up in Scottsdale. I had never been to an event like that before and had in fact no idea what a “bling night” was. It wasn’t hard to figure it out once we got there though. There was live music, an open bar, great food, door prizes and some awesome people. The connections we made certainly made the evening very special. So, a very special thank you to Joe and his lovely wife Jenn for inviting us.

As I mentioned earlier the property we were at (25940 N 115th PL, Scottsdale, AZ) is one of Joe’s listings. It’s a beautiful house with some great views. Here is Joe introducing the property.

Marketwatch had an interesting story on how divorce rates have fallen during this economic recession. The article appeared this weekend and quotes a Phoenix area family law attorney Bonnie Booden:

Divorce rates drop as couples realize it’s cheaper to stay together

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — The recession and economic turmoil is creating a new class of casualties: Married couples who can’t afford to get divorced. In these tough times many people are finding it’s cheaper to stay together, even when they can’t stand each other.

“The reason that the economy has such an enormous impact on divorce is that most people in the middle-income brackets are getting by on whatever income they have. They’re just getting by,” said Bonnie Booden, a family law and divorce attorney in Phoenix.

A major factor in the divorce downturn, Booden said, is divorced couples have to establish two separate households with current funds — a prohibitive factor when you’re looking at divorce in tough economic times.

Booden said one out of every two clients is seeking consultations because they can’t afford to get divorced. They want to know what other options they might have.

“I tell them about the process, about the cost, and what a reasonable outcome might be. And once they hear the cost, and especially how you have to duplicate two households on the same money that currently funds one household, they try to think about some other options,” she said.

Who knows maybe something good will come out, as couples stick “around” and weather the storm together.
